Default DIsco 5 Jacking Points

Hello All,

I have a 2020 Disco Landrmark, my car has running boards. I took my car to Costco for tire replacement, was told they could not lift my car since they could not reach the jacking point (see attached image) and did not want to cause damage to the running board mount.

Has anyone experienced such a thing? would lifting the car where the jack hits the running board mount, have caused any damage? Did Costco need to have a special tool or puck, that the dealership might have?

Please see images below and advise if I should go to the stealership for tire replacement or I have other options?

The running board mounting brackets are the exact place to lift your Disco. Somewhere in the owner’s manual it states this. You could show that manual to the shop and authorize them to lift it that way. Although I have only had my 2017 with factory running boards lifted by the dealer, and an independent LR shop and Discount Tire there has never been an issue. I do have to instruct the Discount Tire guys where I want it lifted. I have jacked it there myself dozens of times. Those brackets are so hefty you could probably lift the entire vehicle with just one of them.

Hi @ponderosajack

Thank you for your reply.

To make sure I understood your reply, it should be safe for Costco or any mechanic to jack lift this Landrover by making contact with the running board mounts (shown in pic above). Basically the running board mount is the new jacking point, is safe and will not cause any damage.

Pls confirm, thanks!

Yes that is correct. See photo below from my owner’s manual.

Sounds like you never jack it up yourself. But if you need to:
Place a jack under one of the rear jack points. This will lift the entire side (both wheels) off the ground. Then you can place a jackstand under the front jack point on that side.
Repeat on other side.
With just the front in the air on jackstands you can access oil drain plug (if not using oil extraction method). I usually leave a jack underneath somewhere with just a minimal load (a few pounds) as a backup to the jackstands. Note that I'm not saying to get underneath with the vehicle on the jack - I'm saying that I get underneath with the vehicle on jackstands and have the jack as a backup system if a jackstand were to fail.

If I want to lift the rear in addition to the front, I jack it from the rear differential and place jackstands under the rear side jack points.
Sometimes you can jack each rear side separately under the rear suspension if you can get a good solid lift point depending upon your jack dimensions.
