In Australia no one seems to know about these upgrades, but all our Discoveries are diesel.
Are these upgrades being done to petrol or diesel vehicles?

For those that are interested, I took my MY ‘17 diesel in stating there was a lag in acceleration. I don’t think mine was as bad as those with petrol versions, but it was noticeable. They updated the PCM software, and I’ve noticed that it is much more responsive.

The TSB doesn’t call out the diesel as needing it, but it took and works better.

I have been following this thread for a long time and always thought my lag was "not that bad" and maybe just a driving characteristic of the car. I took it in for service to have a couple of other items addressed and mentioned this to my service advisor. They did the TSB and it is like driving a different car-- much more responsive.

I also thought it was a (disappointing) characteristic of the vehicle but thanks to this thread I mentioned it to the service rep and they applied the fix last week and the lag is totally gone.

I got the PCM fix on my '19 HSE and it's night and day. Do yourself a favor and get to a dealer if you can.

Has anyone who has had the fix done experienced a clunking noise or rougher shifting in the 1st and 2nd gears?

The update fixed the laggy shifting but now it is clunkier and noisier.

I haven’t noticed anything.

I’ve always had a slight clunk (depends on the driving scenario). It’s not bothersome, nor frequent. I can’t say I’ve noticed it worsen since the TSB was applied. Even it had, it’s definitely worth the improved throttle response, in my opinion!

Since the update the way the transmission does have a harsh engagement off the line. I noticed it immediately I pulled out of the dealership. However I can’t say for sure if it was present before due to the horrific lag.
In any case I’ll take the harsh off the line behavior over the frankly dangerous lag.
