Radar works perfect. Everything is working great.

They are real close.

Hmm... i really really do not want to cut on my front valance. Guess I will see how close I can get it and contour it with the fairlead and mount.

If the entire miunt was moved up a 1/5 or whatever, would it cause cutting at the top... I guess what I am asking is: do you think the height can be adjusted up and eliminate cutting the fascia?

If you could even move the mount up, then you would have to cut the upper part. I could have cut mine closer, and tighter, but its not that noticeable with the clearance I chose.

With that said, you could use a smaller fair-lead might help out to squeeze it in, but you still have to cut the 2 vertical pieces.

Like I said before, Lucky8 should have tested both the gas and the diesel fits. Hopefully they will on the Defender models.

Do you think that if you had ordered the skid plate that cutting would have been avoided? I didn't really want to have a skid plate myself but they still have not shipped my order and it may sway me towards one :/ was trying to keep the vehicle low key when in commuting mode.

I'm afraid the Diesel rigs are different, looks to me the gas version is mounted more outside the nose plastic, so no cutting required. I just can't say. I wish I was more help.

Hear is you answer. This guy cut the vertical bits and forced it open to fit.

Quote:
To get the factor 55 1.0 fair lead to fit, we need to make two cuts to the bumper just either side of the fairlead. The cuts are to the vertical plastic moulding. We made the cuts at the bottom and just screwed the factor 55 fairlead inlace while holding the plastic open using a bit of bruit strength.

I hope this helps.

That was extremely helpful... I may make some stand offs to mount the fairlead far enough forward to not cut anything at all... I'm guessing that the skid plate must come with some standoffs for it to work. I'm going to make a d5 winch picture thread and if anyone could add to it that would be awesome.

I looked through my grille last night as I want to get this installed in the next few weeks... I have an electric fan on the front most heat exchanger that I haven't seen on any other install pictures and am concerned with clearance for the winch... did you have an electric fan up front and I'm just not seeing it?
