$84k is crazy expensive. That must be loaded with everything. A 2018 HSE starts at $58k. You could option that up and get a lot for $65k. Prob a couple of thousand off msrp if you find a dealer with one on the lot that wants to sell it. Then it's brand new, specs you want, and a lot cheaper
If you want every option on the $84k car then that's a different story. I would suggest go to the builder, build what you want and can afford to pay for, take it to a couple of dealers and ask them what they have in stock that comes close

Approx 6500-7000
mine came in at a little over $71kMSRP and I had them install the factory trailer hitch. Final price came in at about $65k with the hitch installed. We went back and forth on the price for about a day and a half because of the hitch but they came through in the end.

Just picked up a CPO 2017 SE 7 str w/ 1400 miles for 49.7k. Msrp was 56.5k. Did i get a good deal? I was contemplating between a new 2017 HSE for 56k or the 2017 CPO SE for 49.7k. Ended up going with the CPO for the extended warranty.

Mine stickered for 75,450 or so and I got 3,200 off and a pretty decent trade in value. My dealer (and same salesman) I have bought 3 from in the past only offered me 1,500 off sticker and 500 less on trade, that honestly hurt my feelings quite a bit when OKC has them listed online at 2500-3K below sticker. I ended up going to Little Rock AR and am happy I did. Just got it home and in less than a week have Johnson Rods and 275/55 Falken AT3w (most aggressive a/t without going into m/t like duratracs). All installed and feel great about it! I was kinda bummed at first since it felt like a minivan compared to my LR4s. Super Happy now with cooled seats!

Mid-2019 I was looking for a Discovery with the all important Capability Drive package since I was moving to rural Maine.
Found a 2017 ‘manager’s’ car with just 6000 mi.
Sticker price, with $15000 of options, was $80000 although I didn’t ‘need’ all those options.
Made an offer that was rejected. Came back 3 months later and made another offer. They accepted. Ended up 33% off list.
The Discovery 5 didn’t change much over 3 model years from what I could tell. Software updates help keep it current.
Plan to keep it long term.

When I bought my 2019 as a current model year I was struggling to get 6% off a well optioned model. However I found out that the company I work for had an employee discount with LR which amounts to 10% off base prices which took me to 9% off the vehicle as specced. That’s as much as I got though but I was happy with it given it had only been in stock 27 days and even the sales guy admitted I could get more off if I had picked one that had been in stock for a year like some of their Jaguar cars...
