I think I got my limit
A week ago, on a friday night driving home from work, I had a SUV flash his brights at me at close range (I was in the smart car) and blinded me for a second. Just long enough for a deer to jump out in front of me. I spotted it in the right headlight just before I hit. Had to cut the hood retainer strap to get the hood out of the way and since there was no fluids leaking, I drove home (about 25 miles) car ran fine, no overheating or steering troubles. there was a policeman behind the SUV and he told me he didn't think I was alive until I opened the door and got out.
2 days later I bought a 2004 Century for $850 to get me to work and back. A week later, I was driving down the road and a van had hit a deer and it was laying across the road. There was a line of traffic behind me and I came across it, did not see the deer as I was checking to see f the van was going to pull out, or someone was going to climb out. When I saw the deer, I had 3 choices..1) swerve left and ht the center cement divider wall, 2) swerve right and hit the van, or 3) drive over the top of the deer. I picked 3....
My son was following me and said I left the ground and sparks came out from beneath the car. He also caught the deer with his left tires as I moved it out of the way some.
Body shop quoted $130 damage and it still needs to go to the mechanical shop...
If I had my Disco1, I probably would not have even slowed down and most likely no damage with the extra ground clearance. That makes 2 deer in about a week.
