I took a peak inside the transfer case. I think I found out why it "doesn't go into gear" (previous owner said the transmission was shot).

Today, after getting the 92 Jag back together and running, I took my chances and quite literally pulled the trailer out from under the Rover. Think of the old tablecloth trick... But it worked and No One met Any Doctors! It still doesn't start tho.......

Default Worked on rock sliders.

Will do some drilling, undercoating and painting. Have no money involved in the process of making these...so, with that in mind...I'm okay with the appearance.

Brian.

I adjusted the tail door strike plate. The door has been squeaky on and off because of a little play when closed. This was also letting in a tiny amount of dust on really dusty roads. No water entering though!
I loosened the strike plate and wiggled it a little towards the front of the truck, then tightened back down. Took a couple adjustments to get the closing and opening of the latch to feel right. No more play and hopefully no more dust. But since it's winter in the PNW I won't know about dust until June probably. Ha.

Default Soda blasted and undercoated

Last month I had to bite the bullet and have the rear 1/3 of the frame replaced (severe rusting). I next had the rest of the frame Soda Blasted and the next day, Ziebart rust proofing and undercoated. It looks nice and hopefully I extended the life of my Disco.

As mentioned, more flex. Also IMO less components to fail and cheaper replacement.

Default Found Source of Coolant River

The coolant leak had turned out to be several minor leaks (plastic coolant lines have hairline cracks; expansion tank cap bad; heater plate failed again) until the lower intake was removed today. The valley pan gasket, which was submerged in a lake of coolant, had no rubber seals installed at the end; instead, Permatex Black had been laid in thick with a trowel and clamped down, but only lightly--the aft bolt was not even finger tight.

Valley gasket with no rubber seal, fore ...

. . . or aft. Just a mound of black RPV.

After draining the lake and removing what was left of the gasket, I was relieved to see everything else looked pretty good. Although I am fairly sure this is my coolant leak, I will probably remove the heads ahd change the gaskets.

On the way out, I am planning on installing oil filter, serpentine belt, new coils (Standard Motor/Intermotor), Karlyn ignition leads, Champion plugs, a new thermostat and several coolant lines, and filling up with green coolant and Rotella.
The coolant seems to have leaked externally.

Frigid morning (-8C or about 17F) windchill of -19C. Nothing compared to the prairies, I know but here in Toronto pretty cold for November. First cold start test on the Disco.

Started perfectly. I have a new fan belt and it "whirrs" a little when revving after warming the engine a bit. I have been keeping an eye on the fan belt tensioner and it kinds jerks around a bit. Does it probably need replacing?

Cheers
