Seems like the air intake needs to be put into the service position. I was wondering if folks like @gschmitt who have done this service item themselves have any pointers on how to activate this service position. I'm not able to see the option in the GAP tool user interface. Perhaps it's simply a matter of moving it physically into a service position and I'm overthinking it.
I believe you may have done your own spark plug change at 50k miles. If you have info on the service position I mentioned I'm all ears. It would be very much appreciated.

I did my plugs at 50K-ish on my 2022 P300 110 S. I did not have to put anything into a service position. It was very straight forward, just tight clearances for the socket on the plug near the bulkhead/firewall...used a very thin walled 14mm spark plug socket...the one I bought was for BMW. The gaps were way off from the factory for the ones I removed and the new ones installed.
The specs below are from the Service Manual for the INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL in my 2022 P300 110 S.

I got myself a narrow walled spark plug socket. I will try getting access to the plug nearest the firewall first. It will be the tricky one. LR do mention a special spark plug socket in their manual. It looks tapered in the pictures.
It didn't make sense to me, the bit about the service position as it states to do this after disconnecting the battery.
One other question. Did you need to gap the new plugs yourself or did they come set correct. I assume it's the same gap and plug on all Defender engines but given the brands love of needless complication, nothing would surprise me.
I will get into this task this weekend. Thanks again for the tremendously helpful post. It is very much appreciated. @GCSchmidt
I did had to gap the new plugs myself and used the Lang 4450A Spark Plug Ramp Gauge to set the gap...they were way off and not consistent between them.
I am not sure of the gap specs for the 3.0 I6. I'll look through the service manual and see if I can find them.
