So, got this done, IIDTool works great, it does put the ABS into service mode. However to bleed the parking brake you need to take it out of service mode. Then while doing the parking brake if you are an idiot and step on the pedal while hitting the park brake all hell breaks loose. ABS and stability control errors pop up, and the car throws two codes, C055E-54 and C055E-7A.
basically the car thinks there is a brake fluid leak. The pedal goes all spungy and you hear clicks while pressing it. I assumed there was air in the line and re flushed everything twice. Looked up the C055E code online and found a TSB, the clicks are actually the leak sensor trying to recalibrate. to resolve just hold the brake pedal down hard for a minute and it all just goes away... this isn't mentioned in the Topix manual download for some reason, so hopefully this saves someone the headache! It also shows why you need to put the brakes in service mode before bleeding.

@GavinC - Thanks for sharing! What mileage did you do your first? Mine is treated like an Infantryman: long periods of idleness, interrupted by shear terror! I keep it garaged until I take it out to "play". So it has about half your miles but I'm thinking it's time for #1 (to others: yeah, I change the oil every 5k - some may think insane, but nothing on these PM's).

@GrouseK9
I completed the first flush at 23,500 miles. A little later than the prescribed 21,000 miles.
That time I didn't activate service mode as I didn't have the GAP tool yet.
This time I was able to flush the entire system including the EPB. One more reason (if one was needed) to have a GAP tool.
It's all very straightforward to do. The manual makes it sound like something from Houston's mission control.
One thing I would add next time is a small torque spanner. 15Nm on the bleeder valves equates to less than 1/4 an uggahduggah.
