Dynamic mode on a p400 is a big difference. I tend to pop it into dynamic anytime I'm on a curvy twisty road, or on the highway. I just like it much much better. It is a quite noticeable change. For lazy around town driving I leave it in whatever it defaults to, ie Comfort or Auto.
The easiest way to explain it is -- it does the same thing on the P400 that it's been doing on the 2010 to present RR's / RRS's with the 5.0 V8 SC. Literally... the same thing. If you have seat time in any supercharged v8 L320, L322, L494, L405 you'd have a good baseline reference.
What I notice:
-- Shift speeds faster (shift speed is so lazy on the P400 Defender when downshifting on highway as stock, it's like a super slushy slush box until it shifts... I find it much better in Dynamic)
-- Transmission holds gears on decel a bit longer
-- Engine revs higher in the power band before shifting
-- More responsive or 'touchy' throttle
-- Tightens up steering. BTW - Noticeably on mine, unlike an above comment on P300 which perhaps is different?
-- Tightens up adaptive suspension.
For highway drives I put everything in Dynamic but Suspension in Comfort on this screen -->
DO you get the red lighting on your IDD dash? Could you post a picture if positive? I have only seen pics of the red lighting on the analogue gauges above. TIA
Thanks. It is a very subtle change indeed. Hopefully the actual car response gets more meaningful changes. Seems the general consensus above is that with P400 the engine/handling change is significant, not much with P300 though.
I would agree with your statement. Both of my P400’s it makes a noticeable change. The P300 question is one I asked before and have been curious about.

I don't see much with my P300 when I enable it. I've had many cars with similar functionality and it was always noticeable, not this one.
For sure - no change in steering stiffness or sharpness.
Maybe - longer hold between shifts? Tough to reproduce and say heck yeah it does
Possibly - snappier throttle response? It's a 4cyl and a heavy truck. Tough to say for sure
I still like the G-Meter. That's my go fast sticker on the dash I can enable
My MY23.5 D90S is smooth as silk with "sport" mode shifts, better than my '22 BMW 430i. The default is almost slushy, but in dynamic mode it is crisp as it could be.
Definitely holds gears longer - up and down.
I don't notice much difference in steering, but mine is clearly less bouncy. Pretty much fun headed downhill, which I do often since I live on the top ridge line near the Blue Ridge Parkway and have a 4+ mile unpaved road if I head south. Curiously, it's a state hiway, NC-197, but unpaved for that section through the Pisgah National Forest.
Now, it's not helping my mileage: roughly 16.5 mpg over 8000 miles now. Then again, I spend half my time driving curvy & steep roads in both directions.

Ratledge, I got humbled today. I feel like you and I were standing next to a river fishing and I was complaining about how there was never any fish in this river. Then you leaned over and took the rock out of my hand and put a fishing pole in it.
I left work today and selected dynamic mode... then I did the unimaginable (in my head anyways) and slid the gearshift selector to S.
Oh my did that make a change!
Usually when I was playing in Dynamic I just hit the button on the dash, but didn't even think to put it in Sport.
I had dabbled in the S only briefly in the past and must not have had Dynamic selected, or at least not in the same circumstances.
As soon as I slid it over the RPMs jumped and held. Next stop light I punched the throttle and launched and wow was there a difference. But I could feel the changes in shifting from glassy smooth to a more tight feel. For sure felt like I was capable of some poor MPG's in my future. Another big thing I noticed was it holding revs as I was descending a hill at speed.
Still not sure about the steering, but I am sure its' doing something on the shifts and RPM holding. It may even sound different?
Anyways, thanks for the fishing pole. I'm happy to continue learning no matter how old I am.

Nope. I do not get the red gauge lighting (I have full TFT ie not analogue gauges) . But it doesn't bother me. I do get red LED's around the cabin, in the door pockets, and dash cubbies, etc. I played around w/ settings and couldn't get the gauges to change.
Just ordered one. Can’t wait to try it. Can the GAP tool be used to make the tire PSI display stay on permanently in the central instrument cluster area?
I often wish it wouldn’t time out when I am airing up my tires.
