The vast majority of techs won't deviate at all from the book. It's not worth being responsible for the safety issues and other potential future problems.

Question…@_Allegedly

your parts total is $5k and doesn’t include the labor LR would charge…

so wouldn’t the labor & sales tax + those parts get the total close to $8k?

Yes I know there’s a belief people can install these themselves, but is there some other light replacement I’m not seeing that costs $4k for just the part? The lights I’ve seen online from LR dealer sites shows the lights about $2,500-3,000 each…

I have the workshop manual and a Gap tool on the way. This can't be hard. The dealer probably wouldn't do it anyway.

so when we’re talking about $5k or $8k, it’s all the same “part”, just not including the labor…

just trying to clarify for others who might be new to researching this.

There are 3 levels. Standard with no halo $?

premium halo $4000 per light (according to this thread)

and matrix $4600 per light (quick Google search) but my link has them for $2600 and Simon PowerfulUK sells them at $2600 but his are RHD version only. If $2600 is legit and they can be programmed in (Simon did it) I'm definitely in.

None of those prices include labor but lights are not hard to swap and toggling the setting in gap is easy. If it requires Pathfinder, I have a local tech who would probably do that for me fur $200.

Matrix was illegal, prior to last year, in the US. You can see what it does in the video above and there are others that show the capabilities.

Idk if that answers your question?

The obvious other question is, does matrix also have high failure and, anecdotally, nobody has said boo about them in the forum that is predominantly Euro/UK people.

That is a valid point, thank you NativeTexan. Further, if one were to buy these, they'd almost certainly be on the rope to change them out on their own. Doesn't seem too hard on the actual replacement but will be curious if anyone ends up using the GAP for this. Some seemingly simple things have been impossible to add via the tool (adaptive cruise, etc) so I'm not sure anything is a guarantee in that respect.

If you don't have a dealer willing to play ball (mine almost certainly wouldn't), you'd be stranded.

For sure no guarantees. ACC has been sticky but that does feel like a more complicated system.

So far in the conversation, this is what they say about it and I just posted the question to see if anyone has been successful. It's such an esoteric upgrade though that there's probably only a handful that have ever tried. I'll see what they say and reach out to my SA, PowerfulUK, Hunter's Prestige, and@markjlr has experience with this?

It does help. Thank you.

Prices have gone up since I looked online at lights last year.

here’s a link I’ve found with pricing of all 3 tiers of lights.

$100 AUD is something like $8 in right-side-up money.

Let's do a gofundme to send it to these people and see what they say.
