Has anyone tried to get the other, working side replaced preemptively before the warranty goes out?
I thought JLR was 4 year / 50k if you bought it new. Not sure about pre-owned. Should be covered by the factory warranty at 30k. I doubt you'll have luck with anything pre-emptive unless there's some sort of recall. I went for the extended warranty when purchased new, rolled it into the payment. You are no doubt correct in expecting issues to jump up down the road with this and it won't be cheap, as you probably know they replace whole lighting modules for this stuff, it's not like it's just a bulb replacement in the old days. I needed the whole back lights replaced too when they stopped working properly. Lesson learned with JLR, like the general consensus, they have far more electrical issues than many other brands. I got rid of mine, didn't have time to keep screwing around back and forth to the dealer for various problems like this, plus there were other issues they wouldn't even address, like seat problems. I would still consider buying another JLR vehicle because I love the style and what not but I'll probably hold off until I'm retired and maybe then I need more drama in my life? We'll see.

JLR is 4yr/50k, even for PO's.

My 2020 was purchased in June 2020, so I have until June 2024 to keep sorting out all the kinks thankfully.

It's 4 yr/50K in US market. I do believe in EU/UK it's maybe 3/36? IDK

You are all right, I didn't research before I posted. Just expected the 3/36k like most do. Really glad to have the 4/50k, we just turned 30k miles and have had it for almost 3 years. We did buy new so that is what we have, it really makes me want to keep business with them. This is really the only issue we have had with it too.

Just had my other headlight replaced today for the same issue. On one hand at least they were both replaced under warranty. On the other hand I'm about to cross over 50,000 miles and may just loose it if one of the headlight led's goes out post-warranty.

Does this mean one led headlight lasted close to 50k miles?

I had both headlights replaced last week and was told the new ones would be replaced if they fail within a year.

The first one failed around 40,000 miles and the second around 48,000 miles.

When I asked if there was any implied warranty on the replacement part I was told that since it was replaced under warranty there was none. If I bought the part there would be a one year warranty on the part. With that being said, if the either of the lights fails in less than a year I'd hope the part would be covered. Still having a hard time wrapping my head around a $4,000 replacement headlight assembly.

Glad I found this thread. The right-side DRL ring on my 2022 Defender went out (it’s 5k miles out of warranty ). The square “marker” lights work for a few seconds, and then cut out. I recorded a video: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0207...UqK13AFCIYhy_w

Has anyone tried replacing the module inside the headlamp? https://www.antparts.com/products/la...ht-drl-module/

IID tool doesn’t work with the new Defender, right?

IID tool absolutely works with the new defender. You can code the DRL's off if you'd like.
