milltek system is modular. the system can be ordered with center resonator or straight pipe. Urban ran it straight piped
i paid 3800 shipped for both resonator and the straight pipes with carbon fiber tips. It’s probably the most expensive build.
i am in US and we don’t have the OPF filter which quiets the car down a lot. basically like an additional cat or resonator
i made the mistake and ordered my p400 non resonator and it was too loud. ended up adding my own resonators. i like loud exhaust and it was too much
the straight pipes are pretty cheap and they bolt in the center resonator section. so it’s a easy swap
i got the straight pipes just in case it wasn’t loud enough. the V8 has valves and they open at higher rpm or full open in dynamic mode
i wouldn’t go catless. the smells are pretty bad and car gets significantly louder
the cheap way to get more sound is just to remove the factory resonator. usually does the trick but the stock tips are fugly
You're right that downpipes could cause a fuel smell inside the cabin. Only does this on certain cars. Removing the secondary cats (center resonators) would be the least expensive thing to try, but It's unlikely to yield a significant improvement in sound. It's also not a bolt on system, so I'd have to take it to a fabricator to have them cut and install a section of straight pipe in place of the OEM secondary cats.
Can't wait to hear your setup. Which are you going to try first....straight pipes or resonators?
to be honest i have no idea. not all cars have primary and secondary cats. My M8 does but my previous generation X5m with the same engine only had primary cats
just looked under the car and there is much more under belly protection or aero pieces. can’t see much after the resonator.
my p400 had nothing under. but that Milltek system bolted to the stock pipe right before the resonator
does anybody have a diagram of the exhaust layout?
there is no pics on Milltek website but Quicksiler also makes a system and has pics. their system bolts right before the resonator. think the OPF sits very close to the cats

That's how it is on the AMG GT. They don't just put exhaust pipe where the filter is.
i purchased my p400 in Dec 2020 off the lot and for a pretty heavy discount. Ended picking Eiger which wasn’t my first choice purely due to it having the Meridian Surround. Audio is very important. it had a 3 roll, missing XM, and had the bright silver trim. i figured i could change most of that and have been chipping away at the long list
so after a year of ownership i really enjoy mostly everything about the car except it’s lacking power and sound. the v6 is sufficient but i am really just used to more powerful cars. If the v8 was out and available for purchase back then i would of bought it. I did add a milltek exhaust on my p400 and that did help a lot in the sound department
my p400 had a sticker under 80k so it was missing some options. Not sure if i really missed any of those options but the v8 has every option
so to summarize a my internal debate to switch i would say the power and really the color of the car. Carpathian is amazing in person.
if sound is important - than forget landrover…meridian is absolute garbage. I have the upgraded meridian surround on my 2022 110 and compared to my 2022 mercedes GLS it just doesn’t come close.
comparing two different animals. if you have the upgraded audio in your gls you should have the Brumester system.
not sure what the upgrade cost is but sure it’s more than 5k
if you don’t have the upgrade i would disagree the stock gls sounds better than the Meridian surround. Plus the Meridian upgrade is like 700 bucks. it’s sounds amazing for the small cost
but with any audio your source is the most important to achieve high fidelity. if you are streaming via apple music, amazon, spotify and then over bluetooth no system is going to sound good.
i use Tidal streaming which is CD quality and then plug directly to the usb even with the wireless carplay.
Burmester does sound better for certain genres of music.
The meridian has a deeper and harder bass and the mids and highs are sufficient. I wouldn’t choose a different brand of car for the audio system. i was saying i choose between two different defenders and picked the less desirable color and options for the higher audio

Burmester sound is stock these days - at least in a gls it is -there is an additional upgrade…but not what I was referring to. Either way - not impressed with meridian at all. But love the defender overall.

I have a 2021 Mercedes GLS580 with the stock Burmeister system. I find it "okay", but honestly not great. I bought the GLS to replace a Tesla Model X, and the sound systems in the Model X was infinitely better than the Burmeister.
I have a feeling the older "premium" Burmeister systems in Mercedes and Porsche....the one's you had to pay big bucks for ($3,000+) may have been better systems overall. At least I would hope so!
The systems that Tesla uses are incredible! Not sure who provides it to them, but in all their model ranges, the audio systems are killer! And this is coming from someone who runs one of the largest Audiovisual Consultancies in the world!
