Removed head, for gasket replacement and other odds and ends. Have replacement fuel nozzles, new turbo down pipe, fuel pump and some o-rings for injector pump lower housing/fitting.
Removed entire assembly, head/turbo/intake manifold...not going back in like this...it was freak'n heavy.
Came a part pretty well. Npthing broke on engine side of things. Did snap both bolts on bracket that holds washer reservior. No biggy, l'll grind them off and weld new ones in place.
Had a little anti-freeze leak at rear of head and oil in front corner.
The head gasket looks original to me and didn't really have any signs of being a part before.
Garage full of downed rovers...lol. If this virus thing continues much longer...maybe l'll get after the white one.
Not me. I could use a week off...... then I too could have two coffee cups on the bench..... I have a pile of new parts and all the tools ever wanted...... no time. I can hear my timing chain calling me. Until the feds or state figure out pay guidelines for the lower ranks our plant probably won't shutter and even if we do I'll still be asked to come in as the premier fixer...... no time..... I'll be burning vacation time if something doesn't pop before then.
There's a total of three on the bench. Old age kicking in...every time l walk to the house for a fresh cup of coffee...it's right about the time l'm standing in front of the coffee maker...that l realize l've forgotten my cup in the garage.
I recognize the habit..... at least two on my bench at all times. It never fails either, with so much coffee in me as soon as I get to the good part in the barn tear apart..... I gotta go...... that becomes a quick priority, forget the cup and when all done in the throne room I see another fresh pot made. Can’t let fresh coffee go to waste, rinse repeat and now there’s three. It’s not easy getting excited when you’re older......
Worse part about dirty coffee cups...is l'm the new dishwasher while l'm off work. If this is any sign of what retirement will be like...hmmmm...l'll be recalulating my exit strategy.
Been the daily shopper too. My wife asked me to go to the store this morning...l'm like...come on, this is ridiculous l don't want to drive over there again. Granted, it's just a little over a mile. But, l was reminded...how driving to Vermont over the weekend for the Defender and a day trip to Indiana for the front bumper "didn't seem to bother me". Damn Land Rover addiction anyway...lol. So, off to the store l went.
Then...worse of worse happened. The "honey do list" was brought up this morning. She asked about chaulk for the windows...l'm like...that job had been reallocated to my "when l retire list"...so, unless renegotiated through proper channels...it will be staying there. Yes, l'm heading to the garage to find the chaulking gun...negotiations went horrible...but l am filing an appeal.
Man, when did going back to work ever become something l'd be desiring.
At least you only have a list, my wife decided me being unemployed was a good time to dig up the Book, but she let me get the Disco up and running 1st.
Me too. I think we've seen a boost in sales of Earth Roamers since all this stuff has come about, so until CO shuts us down -- we will still be making them and I am thankful for that.
