I only had a few hours today but I got the cam, timing set, oil pump pickup, front cover, oil pan and water pump installed. I should have some more time next week to put the heads on. Than it’ll be time to yank the 4.0

Got the heads on tonight. I was a little nervous about stripping a head bolt, some seemed harder to turn to the full 90* than others. But they’re all done.

Got a good camping trip in with the kids. The awning helped a lot with the sun.

Well I’ve had 2 3hr and 1 2hr session to work on pulling the motor so far. It’s at my buddies whose 15 mins away. It’s a great shop but it sucks not being at home to give it more time. 3 kids and a wife seem to limit my wrenching time. Lol oh well

i thought I’d of had the motor out this morning but can’t seem to separate the engine from the transmission. The last rover motor came apart fairly easy. I’ve looked and relooked but don’t think I’ve missed anything.
maybe a second set of eyes next time I’m there

I must of been bushed last time, when I got to work On her last night I found 2 bolts I missed right away. Lol. Out she came no problems. I also pulled my lower steering u-joint off to soak in cleaner and lube up. It’s often gotten stiff and needed spray oil to free up every few months. I’ll go through the wiring harness while is out of hiding and re-wrap/tape up where needed. I’m thinking of doing that coil relocation deal, but I’m not a fan of longer plug wires.
Any thoughts about removing SAI?

I don't really see a point to removing the SAI honestly

The old 4.0l rockers and shafts are in great shape, so that’ll save me some coin. I’m going to ceramic paint my headers myself. I was going to get them coated which I know is way better but I just can’t afford that much at the moment. I’ve been driving my old p38 that my brother bought off me while my trucks been down. Lol I think I’ve spent almost as much time fixing it as working on my truck. Lol. It left me stranded Friday night. First time I’ve ever been stranded by a rover.

Do you guys have vehicle inspections over there? Might be an issue removing SAI, if so.
