Those marks on the heads may be from locking devises to hold the head in place, while machining is being done. I believe, I've seen them on all of the rover heads in my garage.

I’ve finally had a bit of free time to tear into my winch, found the relay to be fine( which is awesome! Not in production anymore &#128546 but a stud from the motor and a buss bar were burnt up. Had it reassembled in an hour and back on the front of my truck ready to rock. Amazing how much easier to work when it’s not freezing out. Lol

It’s a good hike for me but looks like a fun spot.

Well it’s been a bit since I’ve given the green bastard any attention, I started a new job that keeps me away from home Monday till Friday, moved houses on the weekends, still trying to unpack😕. At least the new place has a large garage I can use as a shop. Well except my rover is too tall to fit inside. Lol
I’ve just worked out a price for my 4.6 rebuild parts from Cross axle, seems very decent to me. I’ll be ordering from them shortly. Next item I want to get before I finish the motor and install is long tube headers. Does anyone have any experience with these on a disco 2?
I see headman makes a set for right hand drive.

Well after scouring the Internet I decided to order a set of headers from todco. They reportedly fit perfect and have a bolt on exhaust flange instead of the leak prone ball socket on the hedman headers. Plus they include gaskets and new bolts

Well I don’t know what’s up with todco, they refunded my money for the headers, I called, left a message, got no reply. ????

I got the hedman. I’ll have to put my own O2 bung in and get rid of the ball collector in favour of a flex flange. I think I’ll get them ceramic coated if I can afford it.

Richard, do you have the engine dropped in her yet? Will be interesting to see what the horse power differences are, after adding headers and better flowing exhaust. You'll be surprised with just the difference between the 4.0 and 4.6.
