It's not a Rover build thread, MGB with Ford 302 power :D
Once I get a sheep by the horns..I just sort of stay with it till you tell me to stop...

Check out this "Double needle bearing universal joint"... page 4 I think

Tex some interesting stuff there. I'll do some more looking at the double joints to see if I could work that out at the top.
I got a 78 MGB complete steering column coming. At this point after doing more looking, pm's and email. I think that building my own fire wall is going to be the way forward to complete this train wreck lol.
The more I look at that option the better it seems. Cut the offending area out, at clean manageable angles for ease of patching. Then I bolt the rack and column in place joining them up with the recessed cup bolted to the new column. I think I can make a decently clean patch job at that point.
Looks like I will also need a new ignition switch and key lock as the 1972 equipment I have doesn't look to interchange.
I'm thinking of going with a RF ID keyless ignition system instead. Something, like this is what I had in mind.

It would cost a little bit less and has a certain cool factor to it.

Oh and patience isn't one of my strong suites lol, but your right I know I'll get it. Just not a huge fan of surprises like that.

What rover fanantic posted is what I was thinking, also the push button start is neat once you have the engine running, I am not a fan of throwing in to many mods like that till the initial big modd is shown to work, saves on trouble shooting after the fact
That adds to the excitement though Tom, I could just leave the ignition hanging from the column until I know it works properly though. Good idea. I'll have to install something though before I start driving it more than around the block.
