Cruise issue
One goes to the control box under the jack in the front driver's side. It goes back to a t-fitting where one line goes to the throttle bladder and one goes through the firewall to a brake switch. It does not run off of engine vacuum. The control unit has its own pump.
I have spent countless hours trying to get my cruise back up multiple times over the years, and have sniped off split vacuum lines at T-fittings many times. Cruise has been a priority for me because the driving position cramps my right ankle badly on trips. I beileve that, much like the rubber gaskets around the rear quarter and rear door windows, the rubber for the OEM vacuum hose used in the CC is prone to dry rot. Replacing the line with generic auto parts store vacuum line will likely result in a more robust less trouble prone system because the hose is simply better. That said, I agree with Spike that nothing wrong with a quick fix that is easily undone later if need be. All the more so if you don't have to spend a lot of time and effort routing the replacement hose.
Mine did the exact same thing and the reason I just cut the hose above the split and re-used it is I didn't want to have to route one through the firewall down to the brake mechanism. Maybe if it splits and quits again... but it's workin' for now. Sometimes the lazy man's way works fine.
