Check out Great Plains rovers. While you are at it upgrade to a 4.6!

Or just do the heads on your old motor and spend the rest of the cash on accessories...

if it were me, after this experience I would rebuild what I have. if you re build yours then you know exactly what you've got, ordering a whole new engine puts you right back in the grey area again, just sayin. Dude best of luck to you

Thank you. I'll more than likely be rebuilding my old motor. We've tried one more thing, and that's changing the oil once more and the filter to a MANN. If the truck taps at idle now, I'm done with this engine. They can have their junk back.

I am thinking about your second option there, but I am also considering one of these engines from either Atlantic British or Great Plains in the future...years from now. That is, only if my rebuilt engine begins to give me problems or becomes useless. I am admiring that flange design and the cam bearing design on those Atlantic British engines.

But for now I only have the funds to rebuild my engine and that's that, but they are definitely NOT getting my vehicle.

So we put in Rotella 15W-40 and a Purolator filter (MANN)

Started right up and oil light went right out. Idled for about 15 minutes, perfect. As soon as we put it in drive it starts tapping. Put it in park and tapping stops.

I've given up now. Engine is getting taken out and sent back to them this week.

Mine does the same thing. My tick sounds the same as yours and it comes and goes. At idle its gone put it in drive it ticks.

Sometimes it doesn't tick at all in drive sometimes at idle.

No other symptoms like loss of oil or coolant. I have given up at this point.

get you money back and buy a motor from Great Plains Rover. unfortunately with all the money time and labor you have invested you could have stuck in a new motor from them with a real 3-year warrentee.
i looked at Rover land a long time ago and if you read their description closely they don't do anything? everything thing says inspect. all the do is see if it runs, pressure wash it, re-seal it and send it out.
