Drove the D1 to the state park over the long weekend and realized that most of the leaking from the front of the motor is coolant now that I sprayed most of the caked on oil off. Looks to be higher up than I can see from below so I'm guessing it's not a hose like I hoped it was.

First time driving it on > 91 octane gas and I'm guessing most of the ticking I heard was actually pinging from cheap gas the previous owner(s) put in it for who knows how long.

Edit:

Looking at pictures of water pumps mine is either leaking on the very top of the pump or probably more likely it's leaking from the small pipe/hose the runs up the front of the block. Maybe it's just a hose after all.

Dropped off the +2" springs, shocks, and shock boots at the trans shop. It's up on the lift, and they're tearing into it finally. Asked them once the springs and shocks are installed, to put the new 235/85-16s on RRC wheels I have in the back on the truck, and put the stock wheels/tires in the back. Then I'll stop and get the alignment checked on my way back home.

After that, new headliner and rear speakers (incl the woofers in the door)...

Why would you need an alignment? Installing a lift does nothing to effect alignment. Your castor will be off but there's nothing to do to correct that besides drilling your swivel *****.

Can I ask why you're having a shop install your lift? A 2" lift is one of the easiest things to do on these trucks. Probably easier than changing the brake rotors, LOL.

you do need an alignment after a lift, bc your drag link will be too short. also good practice to make sure its all in spec after dropping a grand or more on tires.

It's actually the panhard that is too short. You can adjust the steering wheel straight but its not really effecting the wear on the tires of alignment when the drag link is out of adjustment. Just a crooked steering wheel. I'd save $60 and adjust it yourself as you don't need any alignment machine to straighten the wheel.

I'm having the trans shop install the springs and shocks because all I have are hand tools, no air tools or power tools. And I would think that after altering the stock suspension by that much, plus putting on tires that are considerably larger in overall diameter than what's on there now, an alignment check would be needed. Also have to get the steering wheel centered, I forgot about that.

It's funny how I miss driving that thing, even though I've only had it a few weeks! Found a 5" drop hitch bar on a shelf in the garage that I'll slide into the tow receiver, that way should anyone rear end me, the idea is they'll hit that receiver first before the back of the truck. I did this to my daughter's '98 GMC Sonoma that has a 2" body lift, and the '94 Disco I just bought back in So Cal has a solid "T" looking gizmo that's in the receiver for now.

Hopefully, in about another week or two, the lift will be done, larger tires on RRC wheels will be on, new headliner, new rear speakers, and maybe even a roof basket (if the damn CL seller in NY would ever reply to his messages, lol).

Started working on mounting my winch. Cut the grill and all that jazz. Need to replace a condenser fan while it's out.
