Aint D1's awesome! I just did the same thing with a car, pulled it going backwards uphill on hard pack in low/locked, it was like pulling air, never lost traction.

Default tightened steering arm nut

I hadn't done much to the Disco lately as I've been fixing up the wife's "new" 2006 Jag Super V8, but after finishing replacing an enigne mount and trans mount on the SV8 yesterday I put the Disco on our club's lift to see why it had gotten more wandery on the drive to the shop. The big nut on the steering arm had loosened a bit so I tightened it with a big crescent wrench and a hammer and folded one side of the washer up aginst a flat - hope that keeps it tight for awhile. Drove the jag home last night so I'll see how the disco steers when we go back to pick it up today and hope that no one has broken in and absconded with my tools. Nice to see that the automatic underbody drip lubrication system was still working well - no chance of rust at all.

Yeah we were out in the heavy snow in lr3 yesterday but I am not pulling someone with that, afraid to bend the bumper hitch assembly

WOO-HOO!! the headliner is out! There are reasons that the rave has you remove so many lower panels. So you have less chance of cracking the material as you try forcing it out from behind the alpine window and b pillars.
Now time for scrubbing, acetate and then solve the 3m 77 vs 3m 38808 question.
38808 is 20 bucks vs 77 at 8.
people say the 77 is fine but is that from people that sell the car? (yea - works fine for YOU!)
I am thinking the extra money would be worth it, plan on fixing this thing right.

Our recent snow was gone, but I pulled a dead tree out of the woods to replenish the wood rack. Hadn't used the dif lock or low in quite a while, but it went in OK and the tree didn't put up much of a fight.

That's a nice view there.

sunroof tray removed - drains are clear and sealed, but the leaking still comes from behind the rubber seal.
Took it off, cleaned and stretched it back on and may have solved it.
Still do not know why this seal is not shown on the rave or any replacement parts for the sunroof.. Anyone??

Default Engine & Driver Stress Test

+/- 5500 rpm did not bake 4.0 v8i

98 Disco, 146K, no rust (phew), engine smooth (still). Shifter mistakenly to N from D. Tach well over 5,000, fairly sure under 6K. Couple of assessment stops w/o issue. No troubles for next 200 miles, Interstate and Local hiway. 3 more stops, starts/stops since home and all good.

Trip solidified parts needed, desired and wished for. Need 5" mids to match pioneer truck boxes, stock tweets ok on 52w X 4 Sony. Not sure if good tuner, 400w so-so amp may blow tweets. No power or running gear critical needs. Needs fuel filter maybe pump; rough idle, iffy power, occasional stall on restart less than 5 minutes after shut off. Wiped codes for fresh data before trip. Haven't dumped new information. Sure be nice to run real time performance metrics on passenger seat laptop. EZ or nightmare? Little things; considering West coast USA parts rig.

Took beast to Lake Tahoe early in week. 2+ hours from San Jose in near monsoon at 65 to 75 mph. Found snow about 2500' but not enough to lock. More at 4000' still no lock. 6800' Echo Summit and no reason to lock diffs in. Down to valley floor around 6100' with lots of snow falling and built up but road not slick enough. Get to cabin and FINALLY a reason. Snow plow berm 30" or so, few days and passes...LOCK, touch gas, whir and bit of grind into driveway.

Excellent manners on snow, black or blue ice, puddles, small lakes. Overall 8+ out of 10. Snow level 9000' for trip back to silicon valley. Road a little snotty, traffic alright, drivers mostly competent. Using gears heading down first 90 miles. Thought it was in 3rd, pushed up 1 click, more gas...AIEEEE...
(1st paragraph engine scare)

Still needs a name; beast bleu? blue banzai? slainte bravehart?

1986 Chev Suburban Federal order for SALE/TRADE.
No luxury options eg; radio, cigarette lighter, cabin light(s), A/C, cruise. Very few exhaust/smog parts. Extreme upgraded electrical generation sets. 2 alt sets into one battery, alternators 100 and 150 amps. Welded boxes and wiring for 2 more batteries. Pulley and harness built in for 3rd alternator. Looks straightforward to install 3rd alt and 2nd/34d batteries. Wiring sets insulated tape ends and bundle wired to frame for additional battery. Kept rear circuit patch panel and sign: "Warning! 11,000 volts! "

So I got all my seals, gaskets for front hubs and swivels. Wheel and swivel bearings to. Took everything apart. The inner wheel bearing had to be forced out, the stub axel had all kinds of damage and the driver side stub axel bearing was gone. Small rollers were everywhere, the stub had rust inside and the bearing housing would not come out. Now I need new stubs. All the seals were jacked up, one side is missing a circlip. All wheel and swivel bearings were good but the grease and oil had grit in them. Going to get new stub axels. This job ain't that bad. I like it.
