I replaced the rear door handle / plate cover. It was a lot harder then it needed to be! I went slow and took my time and went piece by piece. There was also thirty years of dirt and grime hiding under the gasket.

Forgot to get a before photo, so I'm recycling a photo from when I replace the rear bumper.

Default One shot grease application ‘97 D1

In using Bearmach one shot grease, the little cut off in the corner of the bag to ad more lube into the pin housing is a messy thing. And I am not sure if there is enough in the cavity, though it goops up around the top assuming its full. By using a small fluid transfer pump, I got the little hose in the hole and as I suspected, not enough lube. Still messy, but at least its full.

I got my insurance inspection completed by The Sports Car Center in Edmonton. Great group of guys that know land rovers in the Edmonton area.

I now have it insured and registered and am quite happy !

I changed plugs and wires as well, wires had some cracks and were really bonded to the plugs, not sure when they were done last. All the plugs looked very good . Very easy job to change on the Discovery 1.

Default Replaced wheel bearing

After just over 2 hrs, a new wheel bearing for the passenger front installed. No more “whomp-whomp” while driving

Attended the 2022 SCARR Event & this year 5 LR Special Vehicles were there. 2 Orange Trek D2's, 2 02 Kalahari D2's, and then my 97 XD. I haven't personally seen that many LR Special Vehicles together like that since they were new. Had a great time off roading & just driving the XD.

re-sealed my original steering box that I had removed last year and re-installed that original box. Not sure what I'll do with this 'interim' unit. Probably re-seal it and keep it for a back up.

The job is so much easier with a lift.

Hey Walt - question for you

Would you change the oil and not the filter if the filter only has about 300 miles on it and it is a very good quality filter ?

The only argument for not changing the filter is that you didn't want to spend $7. That is not a high enough hurdle for me. I'd change it.
