True dat if the filter was $7 but I use OEM Landy filters and they are about $25 a pop now (I might change over to Mann once I exhaust my OEM's at about $11 from Walmart), but not sure what filter I would consider for $7 ? So with 300 miles I will ask again - what does changing out a 300 mile filter get me ?

Got my 95 D1 aka Goldie registered and road legal. Took it on a trip to Houston, and the next day the AC compressor decides to lock up lol (melted the rubber failsafe piece on the clutch itself).... I had issues with the clutch a year ago, replaced it, but when the AC did kick on the engine did bog a bit so not a big deal I'll fix it. Main thing is the rest of Goldie is doing awesome!

WIX filters are $7 on Amazon. Click the link I included. OEM oil filter for $25 is not necessary in my opinion. YMMV.

You are changing your oil for a reason. What was/is in your oil is now in your filter. Without knowing the specifics of your situation my only answer is 'change the filter.' Even if it is $11, that is not a high enough hurdle.

sorry I forgot - 10-30 oil was added instead of 15-40 - sorry but the "new" Wix filters are crap and I would not let one near my D1 - the research is all over the internet - you might want to rethink after you have gone thru your old stock and be prepared to pay a lot more for a filter or perhaps "Fram" would be one you think would be to go with ? I like the orange ones

Never had a problem using a Wix filter, but I prefer the Mobil1 Oil M301 filter, White Body K&N HP3001 filter (new black ones are cheap....), or the Motorcraft FL1A filter on the lower end of the price range.

Mann is THE oil filter company and they own many of the reputable filter brand in the world. Funny thing is that Wix is part of Wix-Filtron group owned by Mann and it is considered the manufacturer of the cheaper product lines from perspective of Mann. Reason why Mann filters are always good quality is very simple. They would never tarnish the original brand because they have 20 different brands to push little bit cheaper products. Also Mann is their main connection to car manufacturers so it has to be solid.

Default what I did to my Disco today and since I bought it

I bought a 1997 Discovery SD7 with a 2” Terra Firma lift kit and 265/75 16 BF GOODRICH KO2’s
Since getting the Disco I’ve done the following:

• Disco Mike’s “Major Service for a high miler” I.E. replaced all the fluids, plugs, oils, etc.
• replaced the front and rear sway bar links - the old ones were shot
• Installed a ladder
• replaced the passenger side front window regulator and motor
• replaced the brake M/C - old one was leaking
• replaced the cassette tape drive belt
• replaced the battery
• replaced the stereo speakers
• fixed the car cargo door lock with the little spring
• bought an Ultra Gauge
• installed an adjustable H/D panhard bar
• installed an OME steering damper
• replaced the gear selector lightbulbs with LCD bulbs
• fixed a couple loose grounds - one making the passenger headlamp dim
• installed mud flaps
• replaced strut on rear step

I’m sure there are a few more jobs I’ve forgotten but I want to THANK everyone on this forum for helping me out.
It’s incredible how much knowledge is in these forum pages. So far, every issue/problem I’ve encountered I’ve found a forum post about.

Aside from the above listed tasks, I’ve put over two thousand miles on it in the 2-3 months I’ve had it. Even towed my race car up to Dallas and back without any (real) issues. I did see the temp gauge go from just below 9 o’clock to just below 10 o’clock a few times but turning the a/c off brought the temp down quickly. It was because of this I bought the UltraGauge.

CHEERS!

Been a while since I posted. Hadn’t used the truck since 06/21, it didn’t want to start( simple fix), had my neighbors mechanic check it. I replaced the battery( that wasn’t it but I got a new one at Sam’s for $4 still had warranty), mechanic said the cable to starter was not makin contact, it was also loaded with oil. He tightened it and truck started right up. So I had him come back to replace the valve cover gasket’s, I changed them back in 2014 I think. The truck brakes suck big time, what I described to him he recommended I replace the booster and master cylinder. Whatever ok. First I’ll have him bleed the line. Also all sway bar bushings are hangin like the draws of a nasty street walker, so I’ll just go ahead and replace the ***** joints and bushings. Oh and the ac sill works lol.

Replaced my plugs. I think they look pretty good for 3 year old plugs with 25k on them.
