search my posts and you'll find a machine shop I used in Anaheim 3-4 years ago to put top hats in my son's 4.6 D2 block.

$1,500 all in: machining and flanged sleeves.

40,000 miles on rebuilt engine and no problems.

Yep, Q&E, those are the guys.

You can ship the block UPS if you strip it bare (70-75lbs as I recall).

Get a sturdy moving box from home depot, line it with 1/8" (1/4") plywood veener just to prevent any accidental penetrating/puncuturing ($10 or so), then get a bunch of Styrofoam to keep it from moving around and jam it in there tight.

We had a UPS account, so it was like $40 each way.

When your UPS guy asks what's in the box that's so heavy, tell him a V8 block and watch his face. That alone is worth it :-)

Q&E will keep the box if it is well-constructed and ship it back in the same.

Overall a seamless and quite satisfactory experience.

The only issue we had was that Q&E didn't have any tophat flanged sleeves in-stock and it took them 2-3 weeks to get them. But the owner told us that in advance before we shipping so we knew how long it would take.
