i loved how people came out to support them even though the proof was in the pudding.

Man these guys suck. I used to run an online VW parts business and I can tell you one negative thread can GREAT affect sales even if it's not something major like this. They will definitely feel this hit.

If anyone is looking to do a rebuild themselves, consider sending your block to Q&E in Anaheim.

They did tophat sleeves for us for $1,500 including sleeves themselves, new camshaft bearings and block plugs. Even shipped to them and back via UPS.

Was very happy with the results.

 

That price includes 8 new Turner flanged liners?

Q&E uses LA Sleeves. From what I understand, Darton sleeves (turner) and LA sleeves are very similar. Both have the o-ring.

 

What's crazy is Darton is in San Diego, CA but has an exclusive contrast with Turner so they won't sell locally!
