Are dowty washers required on the bolts that are outside the block and connect to the crankshaft bearing caps? On Atlantic British it is $50 for all of them. Is there somewhere better I can get them? Are there alternatives to using them? It seems the ones on the bolts have disintegrated or might even be missing so I cant re-use those.
Are there any other small items I might have forgot need replacing in an engine rebuild?
Agree with above. They are used to seal oil leaks and can be installed on oily surfaces. Probably could use silicon sealant instead if sealing surfaces are clean and dry, but silicon will be messy next go round.
The washers have pretty much disintegrated. Are you saying that liberal use of silicone is recommended in addition to the washers, or can be used as an alternative?
