Are dowty washers required on the bolts that are outside the block and connect to the crankshaft bearing caps? On Atlantic British it is $50 for all of them. Is there somewhere better I can get them? Are there alternatives to using them? It seems the ones on the bolts have disintegrated or might even be missing so I cant re-use those.




Are there any other small items I might have forgot need replacing in an engine rebuild?

 

Bite the bullet and buy the new ones. They are for one time use. Worth the investment.

 

Agree with above. They are used to seal oil leaks and can be installed on oily surfaces. Probably could use silicon sealant instead if sealing surfaces are clean and dry, but silicon will be messy next go round.

 

 

Unless they are damaged you can re-use. Liberal use of silicone also recommended.

In addition. You can try as an alternative and if they leak you can put them on later.
