Default ERR3340 Oil Filter Production Change?

I recently purchased and had shipped to me two Genuine LR ERR3340 oil filters from LR Los Angeles. Seems they may have changed production from Poland to Italy. The label on the Poland filter has 2018 marked on it, while the Italian filter is dated 2023. The markings on the Poland filter are a bit faded from the ones I've used before.

Polish ERR3340: ~116mm length, 6 inlet holes
Italian ERR3340: ~105mm length, 8 inlet holes

The Italian box was relabeled from ERR3340X to ERR3340.

I'm half-tempted to ship these filters out to a Youtuber like Whip City Wrencher to crack them open and compare, along with a Hengst H24W03 filter. Build construction of the Hengst is very similar to that of the Polish filter (it is also made in Poland), which makes me believe that Hengst may have been the manufacturer of the older Genuine filter. The only real difference between the two Polish filters is the location of the bypass valve. Genuine is located at the end of the filter media, while the Hengst is right at the outlet.

On a side note, I also ordered two new Genuine front windshield wiper blades (rear wiper is NLA). What's missing?

Stopped by my local LR dealer to pick up another oil filter. It's the usual Polish-made filter, but with a production label of 2023. Makes me wonder if the Italian-made filter was an order made during the COVID supply shortage?

Who knows. Here is a pic I took a few years ago probably depicting what you are describing. None of my D2s have blown up, so I guess it’s ok?

use a WIX 1515 (aka Napa gold 51515). Simple, cheap, effective.

Most important thing is to change oil (Rotella 15-40) & filter every 3,000 miles.

I have a few LR ERR3340 filters I got from the dealerships over the years as backup - there were so many good filters that were "cheap" over the years I never used the LR filters - it seems the LR filters are now north of $20 each - maybe even $30- crazy - I recommend the Motorcraft FL300 for $7 or go with the roverparts.com oil filter kit that includes two Mahle filters plugs and washer for $25 - a lot of filters have gone insane price increases - even the Bosch filters that were sub $7 on ebay are now $15 - you can also get the AC Delco PF53 for $7 that fits

Prices for the Genuine filters are crazy. Best I can do is $22, I think? Tack on shipping and I haven't saved myself anything except time spent going to the dealership. Used to get them for under $15.

Why the need for a Genuine filter? I believe on Discoweb somebody cut one open years ago. Always an interesting debate but curious as to the need? The design change is interesting. I ran K&N for years then they increased price or were not available. During COVID I scored 6 pack of Wix 51515 for $32.00 on Amazon someone was clearing out. I have ran WIX the most with frequent changes (3K-3500K) of 15W40 Rotella. A few months ago picked up a Mobil1 at Walmart. I usually run these with 5W40 Rotella in the winter months. The Mobil1 has been difficult to find online (In Stock).

Wix filter 51515 - $8.58 <------Amazon
Mobil1 M1-301a - $11.48 <-----Walmart
K&N HP-3001 - $15.99<-------Amazon
