How to charge Discovery Air conditioning on the cheap...
Guys,
Used a R134A can on my Discovery II many times.
Here is how to do it.
Sorry that the example in this video is not a Discovery II.

But it works out just the same:

A/C systems depreciate and lose up to 10% per year in some cases. DIY recharges are great provided the system isn't defective and the compressor is operating OK. If the system is defective and the system has totally discharged then you may be wasting your money as the gas has escaped via the seals or the compressor is defective. Remember, use the A/C Climate control for at least 15 minutes EVERY week or the seals will dry out and you'll lose it totally and it'll cost you a lot to rebuild the system.
Yea.....he has a different problem.
His low side line is collapsing after use. Happens all the time on Mercedes.
"Recharging" his system actually overfilled it. So it will run for a few, then it will shut the compressor off.
These recharge systems are great on vehicles you don't really care for( kids first car, beater you got for $500, etc), A proper ac recharge involves pulling vacuuming on the ac system. the oil in the system and air don't play well together and will corrode the seals, etc.

Something to consider when using AC pro.
Not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to educate a little bit.

That video is pretty damned funny. I realize the guy is trying to help, and the information is helpful to a degree, but calling R134a 'freon' is a quite telling as to his mechanical abilities (or lack thereof).
As I am a certified HVAC tech, I say go ahead and pay the extra $ and get a certified professional to work on your A/C system. There is a huge difference in adding gas vs. liquid refrigerant, totally vacuum down a system and weighing the refrigerant in your A/C system.
