Question Learning about a 2003...

Hi all.
The coolant reservoir cap is different (flatter/smaller) than my 2000. What is the improvement ?

Had it idling for 1 hour+ with blower fan disconnected to test if went too hot... Every ~2 seconds a double chirp heard by the top of engine. Is it something related to the SAI ?

Engine is quiet but something is roaring near the coolant reservoir. Is that a blower for the SAI am not familiar with ?

The fuel door has no actuator button. How does it open ?

How to remove the headlights lens to clean / polish ? I prefer the older glass type. Is there glass under the foggy plastic ?

The driver's door lock top tab is missing. Will investigate if its rod is also missing inside. By the way, what is it for ? Never used it for anything in my 2000

Ash/coin trays do not work

Thanks.

no glass under the foggy plastic but it does polish up fairly easily. other than that I don't know much about the SAI equipped or 03-04 models

The fuel door actuator is on the cluster behind the wheel on 03/04 trucks and on the dash under the radio on 99-02 I believe.

The radiator for SAI just has a little port to screw in a temperature sending unit (which the SAI uses to turn on / off when the car is cold)

Non SAI radiators don’t have that port.

99.9% of all D2 Radiators sold today = are SAI compatible meaning it comes with a plug in that sensor hole. If you have SAI = you remove the plug & if you don't = you keep the plug in place.

Question

Good day all.
Scratching my head... Need your knowledge.
The 2000 cap goes deep and has 2 orings.

2000; overflow has a slit; radiator top hose has a 2mm hole in the wall of the reservoir where the cap fits..

Above, 2000; overflow has a slit for it in the innerwall; radiator top hose has a 2mm hole in the innerwall of the reservoir where the cap fits..

The 2003 It is not like this, does not have the long center with 2 orings
1999-2004 Discovery II Radiator Coolant Overflow Tank Cap PCD000070-D2 - Picture 1 of 2

This below is what I have in the 2003 :

The 2003 cap is shallow, there is no slit for the overflow in the innerwall of the reservoir.
Cannot tell if the '2003' cap is broken missing a portion or belongs to another year or two types of caps/reservoirs. Exteriors are identical.

Is there reasons other than blown head gasket for the coolant not pressurizing ? (2003 - No drips, no oil lever rise) Have an extra 2000 coolant reservoir cap for diagnosing but is different than the 2003. Interchangeable ?
Someone installed a wrong year cap ? What is the last cap image for ?

Help !

That short cap = doesn't look OEM. All D2 & P38's had the long center reservoir cap.
