The underbelly panel prevents the early warning system(small leaks/seeps) from reaching the ground and being easily noticed while down below doing routine mx. It would be a PIA to remove for each inspection IMO and other repairs.

Likely originally installed to increase mpg by the previously mentioned 0.10 mpg and to reduce the number of reported leaks during the warranty period. To each his own.

Yes, removing the right side of the steering stabilizer allows the cover to easily slide into place from the front once the body is lifted.

I would say the few degrees reduction in running temps definitely trumps the increase in fuel economy.

Just keeping the engine bay cleaner would make it well worth it for me. Filthy engine bays are awful on a vehicle that gets under-hood work at least once a month.

Supposedly it runs cooler with it on, and slightly improves mpg.
As well as protecting the engine.

If you still have to jack it up to get the cover out from the front by unbolting the stabilizer; then why not just unbolt nothing, and slide it out the back??

FYI, in my case with all wheels on the ground was able to just remove the steering stab cylinder and remove panel without needing to lift the body.
