Defective? What was/is wrong with it? Are they not assesed for quality before being sold? I'm dropping $12 into my new motor and can not gamble on a defective radiator. Should I be looking for another radiator instead of the Nissens?

Nissens is fine. And radiator can be damaged in shipment, have packing material squished inside, etc. First thing I did when I bought my daily driver (Mercedes 93 convertible) was put in a Nissens radiator. They will stand behind their product.

Part of any cooling system work should be use of a borrowed pressure tester, you can pump up to 15 PSI and wait for leaks to show up. No risk the engine as it is not running.

Even the $125 fleaBay special radiators will work better than an oem radiator that is full of Dexcool mud and sludge.

BTW - $12 does not go very far with a Rover motor....

Yeah it was likely damaged, not from Nissen. I agree with Savannah, the $200 radiator will far outweigh the $12 you're putting into the truck.

Haha! Indeed, nothing costs $12 on these trucks. That was of course meant to be $12k put into the new GPR motor and new coolant system.

Looks like I'll be ordering the Nissens rad then...

It works perfectly.

I never worry now about over heating ever.
Replaced all three - Thermostat with 180 degree, radiator and I put in a Hayden HD fan clutch which I got from EBay.
No problem since all three replaced.
Do you have issue with noise from the HD fan clutch? Does it sound like a jet engine?

Default $127 Silla Radiator on eBay

I just put one in my 2003 and it looked and fit identically to the OE rad I removed. However, if I had just paid $12,000 for an engine in my old truck,....I believe I would be installing one of the All Aluminum radiators discussed elsewhere here (The Alu radiator is a Chevy radiator, and there is a bit of light modification required to fit it)
