Default Only starts moving in 1st and reverse

Hi everyone,
I recently started having this issue with my 03 disco with 115k miles.
When I shift into D I get no forward movement, just revs. Same story for 3 and 2. However if I start from 1st the vehicle will begin to move forward and then once I get the revs up I can put it into D and it drives normally as long as it stays above a certain speed.
All gears show on the dash and lights turn on next to the shifter.
No codes or warning lights.
I've opened the inspection plate on the bell housing and observed the torque converter spinning properly.
Drive shafts are also both spinning just fine when the vehicle is in motion.
I've replaced the transmission filter and fluid. The magnet in the bottom of the pan was covered in a thick layer of gunk. Not sure when the last time the fluid was changed, but it was only slightly darker in color than the fluid I put in.

From what I've read it's common for the forward clutch in the transmission to go bad, but I'm not sure if it would still be drivable at all if that was the case.
Just not sure if its more likely an electrical or mechanical issue.
Any ideas? Thanks

had this same thing happen to my '01 Discovery.

i was told it was the/a sprag clutch that had broken. we drove it that way for around a year until engine issues made it undrivable.

here's some reading on the same issue.

Thanks so much. It's good to finally have a definitive answer to this.

Good to know I can keep driving it at least. Going to start looking for a replacement transmission though because I find it pretty annoying to have to shift manually any time I stop.
