One thing for the guys who don't already have one, please buy a Lincoln grease needle nozzle (or something similar) for your grease gun. This is so you can reach the recessed grease fitting of the CV ball. I can't stress how important it is to keep good grease in this reservoir. The CV ball has needle bearings just like a u-joint cap that need lubrication. This is doubly important due to the heat that the drive shaft is exposed to on the DII.

You lost me here. Are you implying that greasing the propshaft every 3,000 miles not enough? If so then Id like to know how frequently you grease yours. And do I absoulty need a centering kit? I had hoped just to replace the u-joint with a Precision joint and add new grease and new rotoflex and call it good.

It's the part where you said "inspect and grease IF needed". Should read "inspect and grease, period". Please try to keep up with the rest of the class, won't you?

No. Your "if needed" caveat. You're saying it might not be needed.
It's always needed.
Plus your later comment to "add grease". Doing it correctly is more than adding grease.

Could you elaborate on the correct way to great a nipple then? I already know that you need to grease each u-joint until grease seeps from all 4 seals. and I planned on installing the replacement u-joint in the same exact position as the original u-joint (on rear shaft).

Gotcha about "if" obviously I have the right idea just bad choice of words. But is re-greasing every 3,000 good enough?
