How difficult was it? Did you have to remove the windshield? Devon 4x4 has the kit as well, i've just been lazy and haven't ordered. Since I just took the headliner out to get redone, I figured I'd do this at the same time.

It would certainly be easier without the windshield, but it can be done without much hassle. A right-angle drill helped to get the screws in the center in nice and straight. Getting the ones near the a-pillars in straight is kind of a lost cause, without removing the windshield. So I just drilled them in at a 30 degree angle.

Today I got several things accomplished. Replaced one of the missing caps and screw on my front sunroof. Sunroof is held in by 4 caps and 4 screws underneath which hold the caps in place, one fell out on the highway so I wanted to get that taken care of. Added 2 quarts of oil cause the dipstick was getting a low read on oil level. Replaced my old cracked battery/jack cover with a used one. Then I made a 2 hour trip to Manchester Vermont to meet up with a enthusiast to do a trade of tires and wheels. I was running the standard 18" hurricans with less than perfect tires and I previously ordered 5 new G4 style 2 16" wheels. But needed a set of 16" tires to slap them on so I gave the guy $250 plus my 18"s in exchange for his good condition 16" Hancook Dynapro AS tires. With those in hand I was able to get my new 16" wheels installed. Love how they turned out. While we were hanging out, I met some of his other Green Oval buddies and even got a quick photoshoot in next to a Disco 4 LR Experience rig! All in all a great day. Enjoy the pics.

So the D1 kit does fit the 03-04 dashboard? I think I know of a D1 parts truck that has one if that's the case

TRIARII, did you get to drive the LR D4? I'm seriously considering getting a late (2011 3.0 V6 TDI) low mileage one as the write ups seem very good. I would like to get a new one but the depreciation seriously is penalising in europe and at least someone else has had the hassle with the recalls and initial teething problems. Your opinion would be valued.

I've driven the one in his photos quite a bit on the road, as well as in their training course. It's a blast! Here's a photo I took of it in its proper habitat.

Sadly I did not get to drive the Disco 4. The friend I met up with (Peter B) said it cost $200 just for a 1 hour lesson in the vehicle...... and the other guy who was actually driving the LR4 was in a hurry.

But regarding your second question, if I had the money I would not hesitate for a moment to buy a new LR4 Disco 4 HSE! The LR4 continues the legacy of the Discovery heritage and adds Range Rover comfort and styling. The vehicle is greatly improved over the former LR3 model. More powerful and reliable engine options, re-worked Terrain Response system, higher quality interior, etc. All around a great vehicle. I cant afford one so Im going to be getting myself a LR3 soon but its only a stepping stone. Maybe in 50 years I can afford a LR4! lol Good luck and good hunting.

PS: check out youtube vids

Today I installed my new GoPro Hero 2 mount on my dash just above the instrument cluster. I've been wanting one for some time and have the Hero 3 Black + model on my Xmas wish list that my wife asked for. Last week I happened to go to my local Craig's list and loon at Cameras and someone was selling a brand new Hero2 in an unopened box for $100. I met up with him in a few hours and drove home with it.

I've been playing with it and plan to get a mount for the ARB bumper brush guard for another mounting option. I used the slightly curved mount to fix it on the dashboard. So far I've only done some test video driving along our main street, it's quite smooth and the video quality is good. It's just enough off to the right of center that it doesn't bother my field of view or be a distraction.

Maybe I will catch a meteor crashing into earth or something!
