On another note does anyone know if taking the splash guard off the bottom of my d2 will hurt anything. I am tired of spilling oil every time I change the filter on this thing and have thought about just taking it off.
I removed that splash gaurd off of my '04 a couple of years ago & have had no issues without it. It was a bit of a pain to remove without breaking it! I believe I jacked the front end up a bit, turned the wheels one way or another & eventually worked it out. It was worth the hassle for sure...

+1. Ripped mine off about 6 months ago. Makes life so much easier. Ended up slicing mine down the middle with a dremel. Was a gross, messy experience, but I consider it quite the "upgrade."

For some crazy reason I picked today, a nice hot humid Houston day to finally remove the last bits of broken glass from my shattered rear alpine window that I broke at SCARR last spring. Most of the glass had already broken free back then and I had put several layers of black Gorilla Duct Tape to cover it up.

I had to slide my roof rack forward then peel off the sticky tape. I then used an assortment of razor blades and chisels to cut off the last of the silicone bead that held the broken glass at the edge of the window in place. Only cut my fingers in a few places! Finally got it removed and cleaned off as much of the old caulk and wiped away all traces of dirt and grime. I also used a bunch of Goof Off adhesive remover to get the duct tape gunk off of the body paint. Put a nice thick bead of silicone around the frame and plopped the used glass I got on Ebay in place. Luckily that window is not a high demand item so I had gotten one for $35 from a junk yard in Georgia. A new one from the stealership would have been $250!

Got my roof rack back in place and secured and rewired the reverse lights on the back of the rack.

FYI, I broke that window going up a steep grade at SCARR and as my vehicle slid off into a rut while going up a tree clipped the edge of my roof rack which dislodged it from the gutter mount and smashed it into the glass.

Spent the next hour drinking cold water and sitting inside the air conditioned house!

Default TreadWright Shoes

Big week, love my lovely wife. Ordered a much needed OBD2 scanner, and big Birthday Gift, just ordered my new shoes from treadwright.com. I'm basing all confidence on forums and ratings, can't wait till they arrive to get them on my Disco. At that point she will be on 16's, been on 18's since I owned her (10 months). Big day tomorrow, bad drivers door clearcoat plan to sand and prep for neighbor to shoot!!

Default misc items

Washed the car, now the horn beeps every time I locked. That's new.
Replaced the corner rain gutter piece. There was some discussion that you could not remove the a pillar with out breaking it. Mine came off easily amd unbroken despite my best efforts. As a side note the 5/16 plastic rivets from AutoZone will reattach, no need to spend $9 and wait for delivery from a dealer.

Also replaced the battery after it failing last night for the third time. The majority of my drives are 6 miles so the battery never really charges and a few consecutive short drives kills it. I will check the voltage at the alternator. I understand 13.5 a idle is correct?

I just bought it a couple thousand miles ago and all sorts of engine noises are sorting themselves out. My guess is 93 octane, seafoam and proper maintenance is fixing neglect. I am going to seafoam the induction tonight. When its dark and no one can see the smoke.

Also going to put in a new thermostat once it cools off.

Maybe my lucky8 will stop squeaking one day. Pretty unhappy about it especially given that the newest part is now making the most noise.

For the horn beep:
Open the hood and look at the front of the driver side finder. There is a button that the hood pushes down when it closes. On my truck the rubber boot that goes over the button is ripped and it doesn't push the button down far enough. The car thinks a door or the hood is open and it's honking to let you know to check the door to make sure they are shut and locked.

Battery drain
:
A common problem with battery drain happens after switching from air bags to coil springs. If you don't have the SLS turned off in the computer then it will continue to open the valves to raise or lower the truck.
When the truck is off, crawl under the drivers side of the truck. Can you hear clicking come from the black box connected to the outside of the frame right under the drivers door?

Drive Shaft:
I would pull the drive shaft back off and make sure everything it okay. It's not something that you really want to leave to chance.

Thanks. I had an open door.
I have springs, my guess is that it was an old battery. Did not check th date code, but it looked old.
