Not sure if the ticking is from the engine based on your description. If it is, when I first got my truck, I heard a ticking only when underload. After a few tanks of premium gas and BG44 it seems to have gone away. Hope this helps.

 

Wow so after putting a new radiator and waterpump my temps still climbed in the 200's. I see 194 more consistently now but when I've got the AC running I see it go up to 203-208. I've bled the system twice. I put two gallons of 50/50 in there but I think it can be topped off a little more. Otherwise it I think the Motorad 180 may have been the culprit this whole time. I'm not experiencing any leaks.

I just figured at 158,000 miles now it had to be the radiator or pump. Oh well at least I know I've got new parts in there now.

 

Replaced my timing chain, gears, and oil pump. A nice byproduct of this was taking care of the leaky oil plan gasket.

However, I'm now getting temps of 199F while driving with AC on, I used to be 194 on the dot.

Hopefully it's just an air bubble, I'll wait until it cools off and then bleed the system again.

 

Car got some love this weekend. Thanks to Drowsap pointing out a good deal on this thread, I ordered a britpart bumper from Atlantic British for $400 on sale. Installed it this weekend. As with all work on the D2, it took close to one hour to unbolt the old bumper with all the rusted screws and bolts.

New bumper fit beautifully and is very well made. Had to do some minor trimming of the grill to fit it.

Also installed some LED interior bulbs. I can finally see inside the car!

 

looks good, better than paying $700 for a stock bumper cover. by the picture it looks like you work off of A street in southie

 

Thanks! Now I need to figure out what I want to do about the washer bottle. The short term fix was a ghetto job with black duct-tape so it doesn't stand out as much.

if you don't have smog/air tubes you can move the washer bottle under the hood on the passenger side firewall you just have to shorten the long filler tube.

 

yeah, looks much better on your truck than in the ad where it looked bent. You should send them your pic to use..

 

Bumper looks good better than I'd have thought for an aftermarket. You could also degrease the washer bottle and spray it with a spray can of black plastic paint. How to Paint on Plastic: 10 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow but ensure you degrease and rough the surface properly as plastic is often oil based and the surface is often still oily. I use cellulose thinners or brake cleaning fluid before spraying plastics.

 

yep, have plenty of space there. Will do that eventually.
