Will need to dig into it.
Part of the noisy SAI problem is that it has a non-serviceable filter that has probably completely hardened or disintegrated by now. It's relatively easy to pull the filter cover off, remove what's left of the filter, and replace it with a K&N 62-1370 breather filter that is washable and much quieter. You'll need to grind off the plastic tab that kept the filter away from the intake port, I find a Dremel works well for this.

I used a razor blade to cut it off. Works fine.

Well I stole the whole idea from you, so you’re certainly the expert.

Washed the 04 and did a little trail run on the inlaws property.

Replaced the unknown aged gear oil in both differentials with fresh Valvoline 75w145 full synthetic. That stuff was black as night and the new oil looked lovely going in. Definitely drives a little smoother, and a really easy job without many tools.

With the headliner board removed, I applied some RTV to the sunroof drains, and started adding soundproofing to the roof. I am going to sound proof the entire roof and rear cargo area.

Drove the white 04 to the Sec of State (MI DOT) to get plates transferred. Made an appointment, since they are closed to all other transactions that can be done online or through the mail. Arrived...and they were closed...period. You'd think they'd have sent me an email stating they were closed...or at least NOT let me make a freak'n appointment.

Anyhow, after being couped up for seven weeks, felt good to get dressed and go for a ride (besides to grocery store). The 04 is a joy to drive, smooth as glass compared to the Defender.

Beautiful day for a ride.

Brian.

Default My 04 Disco Got a Face Lift

Replaced the stock front end with the ARB bumper, Warn Winch and KC lights. Very pleased with how it turned out.
