Time to replace the rear quarter panel! (After the crash, the auto body estimators SAWED through it from top to bottom to inspect for damage to the underlying skin.) So what did I do? Pulled the aftermarket steel bumper off the rear, removed the interior panels from inside the quarter panel, pulled all the nuts, then was brought to a screeching halt as I found that the front end of the quarter panel is held in with ENTIRELY different sized nuts than the bolts used for the rest of the attachment points.

WHY, Land Rover? WHY DO YOU DO THIS!?!?

I was sailing along with the project, and with a false sense of confidence, only to be stopped dead in my tracks when I discover that the area of the quarter panel attached at the D post are held on, not only with smaller nuts, but nuts that are screwed over bolts that are too long for any of my sockets to fit over. Boooooo!
So tomorrow morning's plan will be to go to Menard's and grab a deeper socket set to fit over the bolts...

We need to see that nice D2 at the Uwharrie Rover Event (URE) in Oct. just an hour from Charlotte. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Old-N...839942?fref=ts

Installed new set of NGK G-Power spark plugs, and replaced one of my upper tail light bulbs that was burnt out. Nice that there are two on each side there, so you can still drive with one bulb, but one really directs light to the rear while the other is more for the side view.

Bought a bunch of LED tail lights and turn signals and backup lights and fog lights. They all suck. Taking back.

I converted to LED light bulbs years ago. I guess I have had luck with mine. I did the three interior dome lights and rear license plate. I made it a point to save the vendor on my EBay account and to buy a double order for spare bulbs.

Left my D2 in the garage at the house today.
Less miles on it - less chance for it to break down.
Less miles - less gasoline cost.

Finally installed the new Plenum Filter. I've been putting it off, not sure why, but I'm going back to the desert, and don't want any more junk in my cab than I have to have.

Default Rear Quarter Panel

Picked up the small metric deep socket set I needed for the last 3 nuts and pulled them. Pulled one more 10mm bolt from inside the lower D Post, and finally got the damaged quarter panel removed. Woot!
