Yesterday my wife and I finally put Myrtle in the wind (and rain) to see a few Defenders for sale here in England.
Started early in the morning with a full tank of petrol to drive the 2 hour scenic route to Chesham, Buckinghamshire to inspect my long time want… a 2003 G4 Defender 110 Td5! It was a nice drive but the G4 was rusted and TRASHED!!! I used my Nanocom on it and found 5 faults just on ECU alone for the for fuel pump, MIL lamp, glow plug lamp, noisy crank signal, & injector 5 open circuit. Not to mention I was getting showered on while inside the vehicle from the light rain. Crap…
Oh well, onto Ashby-de-la-zouch, Leicestershire and another 2-hour ride to inspect an ‘89 Defender V8. Very nicely remodeled Defender. We had long discussions with the owner about Land Rovers, US & England relations, the pandemic and US vs. England military aircraft.
We finally made it home 2 hours later after filling with a half tank of petrol in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. To top off a wonderful day outing we had no issues from Myrtle.
Good girl…

kinda sucks when they are in bad shape
on a side note, what cool features does the nanocom do like turning off drl and programing keys etc, any other cool features it does ? can you disable the auto locking of doors ? im considering getting one

You can enable/disable many options in the Valeo BCU screen. You can turn on/off…
Speed lock option… locks doors when you drive off.
single point entry… only the one driver’s door unlocks from the key fob. Hit the unlock button again for all the doors to unlock.
ACE
SLS… if you’ve removed the rubber air bags for suspension and replaced with coil springs you’ll need to turn off this SLS option.
Alarm
DRL
Courtesy head lamps… This allows for the headlights to come on for 10-15 seconds (?) for safety at nighttime.
Heated front screen
seat belt warning and sound
cruise control
Odometer error warning… if the odometer reading doesn’t match what’s on the BCU or vice versa, the odometer will flash. This option will stop the flashing odometer
+ other options…
The Nanocom is very handy.
