Default FrontRunner Rack

Got my frontrunner rack installed. This is the “tall” version which oddly enough is only half an inch taller than the normal version. Took my the better part of the morning to install by myself.

Repaired the only bad spot of frame rust that I had. Glad to have that one off the list. In hindsight, what looked bad on the outside, wasn't all that bad. And the rust treatment I've been using stopped any further rusting (Berkible PFC). At least it looks better now and will never be an inspection issue.

But, the whole mess could be avoided if they just re-engineered a bolt application, instead of captured stud. Or, why not just two bolts, then you wouldn't have to remove A/C compressor, where in the he** do they think it's going anyway?

Anyway, LR rant for the day. But, stay tuned...more will be along shortly...lol.
Vise grip removal here, never goes back on. It was worse on Vortec Chevy V8's. Three steel 1/2 diameter tubes probably 1/8 thick to brace the alternator. Easily could have supported the entire engine.

I finally mounted an extinguisher. I ended up making a simple bracket with some aluminum stock and bolting it to where one of the 3rd row seats use to be.

Note to self...sell Silverado today.

Yeah, debated whether or not to reinstall stud...but my "make it look original" kicked in. Have to stop treating these LR's like my old cars, where that was important...lol.

That’s good to know from you guys about not needing that stud for the steering pump.
I plan on replacing mine soon.

New shoes for the white 04. Cooper AT3 S4 265/60R18.

Gives her a beefier stance like her younger sister. Those are flies all over the hood, not stone chips. A cold front had just moved in and they were soaking up the radiator heat.

And yeah, as a reward...the check engine light came on on the way home. If that ain't gratitude for ya.

I'm just happy to see Vise Grip spelled correctly, with or without a space. I always wonder what a "vice grip" is. This from a Nebraska boy, where Vise Grips were invented and manufactured until the company was sold to Irwin.
