Default Is this normal ??

Hi,
I have a 2000 Freelander with about 90,000 km (approx 56,00 mile) and really enjoy it. But something is worring me. Is it normal that after one month or two of normal driving, that the Radiator reserve loses approx. 1/2 liter of Coolant/ Wasser? I bought it last year and haven't really thought about it. I have check the oil for water and found nothing, no milky appearence, no foam, and smells normal. I have been reading now that the 1.8ltr benzin motor is know to blow it's head gasket often. Should I be really worried ? How else can I check if the head gasket is bad ?
Thanks for the help,

Bill

look for coolant leaks and have it pressured tested by a technician.

Nope, not normal. Could be any number of leak points, or coolant cap venting at low pressure and allowing loss of coolant while driving. Could also be the start of the HG issues (burns it as white smoke out the tail pipe, so small at first you don't notice it). Here's a drawing of the coolant system, designed by engineers that own stock in hose clamp factory. More clamps than any two Discos. If not an external leak, good time to sell truck, consider head gasket sealant to delay the eventual HG failure until budget can handle it, etc.
