Hello im new to this forum and new to land rovers in general and i am in the process of replacing a head gasket on my dads 2003 discovery 4.6 liter (aka Buick 215) and i made the mistake of not taking any pictures during disasembly i just reconected the injector harness and their is a brown wire on the passengers side with a nut on the end, that i asume is a ground strap the problem is i have no idea where it goes your help will be greatly appreciated, as it is desperatly needed also a picture of were it goes would be very helpful

 

There is a ground that connects to front of that head. Also the little alternator wire is over there

 

thanks but were on the head i have looked but cannot find where it goes could you post a picture

 

I'm 99.99% sure that's for the alternator. I just pulled that wire off mine last night, when I was pulling the PS (RH) valve cover. That integrated nut looks just like it. I've also got an '03.

You can check the wire color in the RAVE repair manual- there are extensive wiring diagrams.
