Default 05 LR3 EGR Valve leak

Check engine light on (intermittent), diagnostic is a leaking EGR valve. Shop wants right at $500 to replace.

Question: How hard is it to replace? Something that can be done by somebody with a little better than average mechanical ability?

Here you go, I was thinking the same thoughts, BTW, you can download your own copy of the whole manual for free. Does the $500 include the part (like $200 - $300)?

what is the code? A leaking egr can cause some issues but there are other issues as well. And its easy to replace yourself. just a few bolts.

Thanks for the manual pages!
Not sure what the code is, will get that tomorrow when I pick up the truck. Am thinking that it could also be caused by a loose feed pipe union, rather than a defective valve. Might try that before actually changing the valve itself. The truck is actually at the local Carmax store as that's where we bought it, it's under an extended warranty but the warranty excludes the EGR valve so this one is on us. Haven't been overly impressed with Carmax service (they usually end up sending it to the dealer which is a nightmare).

The quote for the valve R&R was labor and parts included. Did call a local Rover repair shop, they quoted a price of right at $400 but also said that there could be other causes.

Appreciate all the help!

Lean codes I bet. if its leaking coolant it should be a covered item. if its not leaking coolant then its probably misdiagnosed.
