Default Aircondition compressor off and on

Hi Guys

I just got the fully loaded 2008 Disco 3 with the 2.7 diesel engine. i was having some non cooling aircon problems, turned out to be a leaking aluminium pipe on the back AC. this is now fixed. three days after driving around, i am noticing the cool air sometimes stops flowing even though the blower is working. kind of like the compressor going off. then it will come on by itself after a few mins, or if i turn the temperature dial down further . any ideas on what is causing this off and on ?

Improper refrigerant (freon) level. Will need a shop that handles AC, has gauges, etc. This is a clutchless compressor that is more complex than the old Detroit models. Pages attached from LR3 manual that can be found on line if you look around.

Do you know what caused that problem in the pipe?

I am looking in to a used LR3 and need to understand all the know issues...

Thanks!

Hi Savannah

thanks for your detailed guides. i am told what is causing the problem is the solenoid valve. is this part replaceable ? i am told there are some gears in there that might be bad. so when i put the AC on sometimes the compressor comes on and sometimes not. or compressor will be blowing cool air for some time and go off with the blower still functioning. you will have to turn the AC off for a while and turn it back on again to bring the compressor back on
