Default Drivers door lock

Sorry if this is a newb question...

I have an 08' LR3. I can lock and unlock my drivers door just fine when I use the key fob or the buttons on the dash, but when I try to exit the vehicle buy pulling the handle, no matter how many time I pull, it won't unlock and open the door. Also, I'm not able to unlock by manually pulling the locking tab... Is this buy design or is something broken?

Thx

Either the cable in the door is broken or has come un hooked. The locking Tab is a part of the cable connection.
Time to pull off the door panel.

Even though the locking tab moves In and out with the fob and dash buttons? I have heard of goofier things though

Umm, that's different.

if you pull of the door panel you should be able to see the issue pretty clearly. At this point it's all a guess.

The same cable that works the door handle, works the locking mechanism. So if the door will open with the inside handle, then the cable is good. This would imply to me, that the lever on the latch itself is broken, which would require replacement of the latch assembly.

I will take the door card off this weekend and see if I can find the issue...

What I find with these is that the cable is attached to a metal lever, which operates the latch portion. That metal lever, when pushed far enough, pushes on a plastic lever, which operates the lock. The plastic lever breaks, rendering it inoperable, so the metal lever works and opens the door, but the plastic lever no longer gets actuated by the metal lever (thats how both functions work via one cable). Without a known good latch to compare it to, you might not be able to spot the failure.
