Burned the LR3 for the insurance money today....

 

I asked because I think the timing tensioner is a common issue on....well actually that's on the LR4 I think. Plus, you said "belt" and that made me think of the V6.

Was it the Serpentine belt/tensioner that gave you problems or the timing chain (tensioner)?

 

Yes serp belt and tensioner. The pulley is what cut the cover

 

 

Was the failed tensioner the old style (no lip)?

Tried out the roof top tent

 

Nice tent. I'm jealous. Definitely on my list, but I don't even have an Expedition Roof Rack yet. Which means that this weekend, I will be sleeping INSIDE the vehicle. Going on an off-road trip, and will be using a twin sized air mattress, with all the seats folded flat. First time I've tried this, and it could get pretty cold and snowy, so it'll be interesting. I will be taking along a deep-cycle marine battery to run a (60w) Sleep Apnea CPAP machine, and also a small (250w) space heater. Will only use the space heater if necessary though. Mechanically, the vehicle is ready - swapped out front sway bar bushings last weekend and checked out everything else. Just need to pack all my gear today. I'm curious to see how many times the Winch will need to be used! I'll try to capture some decent photos and videos, and share them. The 2 photos attached here are from last winter.
