Default 2017 HSE....is it worth trying to make upgrades?

I live in the blistering heat of Arizona, so the thought of adding the cooling seats, which should have been automatic IMO, entices me. I know the vehicle has the capabilities for it, so I would need to just add the parts, or better yet have my dad who is a mechanic add the parts. Has anyone been successful in "upgrading" their Disco5 w/ cooling seats? And if so, was it a real PITA or not too bad?

Go to Amazon and do a search for "air-conditioned car seat cushions." Cheaper, faster, and they'll provide extra protection for your leather seats.

Former AZ expat so I feel your pain and agree that cooled seats are the greatest thing to have in the summertime.

This is going to be your most economical route.

One major challenge is going to be finding the correct trim of seats in good condition and that match your interior (at a reasonable price). Even if you're able to find them, you will require something like a GAP G4 tool to code the truck to know about the new seat features. It's possible the body harness is specific to your trim level so some required wiring may not even exist to connect the new seats. I wouldn't even consider taking this on unless you find an amazing deal on a pair of seats. I started looking at the new price for complete seats and stopped tallying in my head once the number approached the cost of the used Ford Fusion we just bought for our daughter.

Bringing this back from the dead. I was talking to someone who thinks the cooler seats may already be installed in some instances and just needs a software switch to turn on because when activating the cooled seats on the dash, the polarity is reversed into the fan motor, blowing the air up and out into the seat bottom, whereas when you flip on the heat, the fan blows extra heat out the back of the seat into the rear passenger area - assuming I got that right.

So my question is, can this be enabled via the IID tool to see if the things are wired and outfitted from the factory? Does anyone know what options to choose in the CCF?
I've for a 2017 LUX and it doesn't have them but I would think it should since it has everything else.

As far as I'm aware, the heated seat uses a peltier element for heat transfer. It's possible if you have heat and no cool that you might be able to enable cooling with GAP. If you have nothing then the blower modules may not be installed in the seats.

Edit... I take that back. from the diagrams it may be that the seats have an electric heating pad in the base and back and the peltier blower is for the cooling feature. Perhaps the blower can handle heating and cooling if you have perforated seats? I'm just speculating at this point.

These are the settings that seem to be related to the heated and cooled seats from my 2018 HSE.

Thanks Chuck! I have the perforated seats and couldn't for the life of me figure out why I would have those without it being able to blow air in.
