Well in BC it was only an emissions check so removing SAI would not have been an issue, but too much fiddling for me to bother. Removing parts and sealing the ports is easy, the ECU less so unless it was just a Nanocom thing

Cleaned up the headers

Shot them with ceramic flameproof paint, I still need to bake them now

Shot the valve covers silver for now

I’m pretty sure I’m going to ditch the sai. Give me more room under the head. I’ll look for plugs for the block and deal with the consequences as they pop up I guess

Removed the SAI system on my 01 and 03. Cut the flimsy tubes and reused large nuts with nickel installed inside to plug hole. Check engine light will come on every so often. Me, since l knew these would never be sold again and would end their life in a junkyard...l pulled the dash and filled the CEL hole with black silicone. Monitored systems with scan tool, so pretty much didn't need stupid dash light.

I painted my headers with ceramic high heat and treated them to harden the paint

It may not be as good as a professional but way cheaper

Last rocker shaft to clean up

The powder coater finally came through

Almost going to be too pretty to get dirty. Almost lol

Commented over on our facebook group, so you know my feelings on this.

Thanks for the advice deputy, I did a thorough cleaning of the parts, they actually weren’t bad, at least I couldn’t see anything come off in the wash sink. As for the heat dissipation I think I’ll take the chance, I’ve had other motors that were full aluminum with powder coated intakes and cam covers from the factory ( 4.6l 32v Ford v8 in my 96svt cobra) I think it’ll be ok. I’m also upgraded to a custom 4core heavy duty rad at the same time so that should help.
last night I got the intake and rocker shafts valve covers on. Slow process cleaning and double checking everything as I go.
Ive has the lower steering ujoint soaking for a couple weeks in cleaner, just want it good. It has stiffened up a few times in the past. Has anyone ever had issues with these before?
can we replace the ujoint?

Finally got some free time to work on my truck

Just wanted a couple pics while it was still clean. Lol

Got it all bolted up. Still lots to do. Definitely need to go through the wiring harness. The plastic covering is terrible decayed

I had re-do most of mine too, I used the cloth wrap then covered with the plastic, avoid the soy/cellulose based plastic replacement, rats love it

I wrapped my harnesses with silicone tape rather than using new plastic loom
