off was 12.5, running was 13.5. I didn't check actual cranking. I'm a newby.

Did your shop check it for stored trouble codes? Should have set/stored a transmission code I would think whenever it acts up. If the battery and charging system are definitely ok then I would look at the XYZ switch and it's connector, but it would be nice to know what codes(s) you might have as well.

For me personally...every time I've had flashing M & S it's been battery or ground cable connectors... several times over the years this has happened to me and I cleaned my battery terminals and tightened the battery cables on both ends and that fixed it...for a year or so...till it decides to do it again. Once I had to change the battery that was very old anyway and that fixed it. So first I would check your cables...disconnect them from the battery, clean them good with a knife or round file on the inside and clean the battery terminals good and check the ground connector on the fender and down on the other end then tighten it all back up good and tight. The factory cable ends at the battery are not the best design anyway..If after all of that, you still have the problem, then move on from there.
