Can't believe I missed this thread - whew! What a trip. The PO needs a new mechanic.

Replacement engine was the right call at that price, but I've run motors with worse cylinder wall damage than that. Burns a little oil but no real issue. To me, that motor is your rebuild candidate. I'd do top hat liners in that block and not have to worry about it.

Is the dead blow hammer placed there to intimidate your Disco? Let us all know if that tactic works.

Update…..I haven’t finished it yet. Work was really busy for a few months and then my kitchen flooded. It’s been back burnered for a bit. We had to load our kitchen and dining room into the garage and move the project outside. Here’s the most recent pic.

I ground off the nubs on the under side of the coil pack bracket since I turned it upside down.

Dang I missed a lot! I’m hoping I don’t have to pull the engine, but might in D2 #4 for me (part of me wants to just to build a slightly more powerful and freshened engine). Great progress!

I've got a blower you could slap on...

Dude, don’t tempt me. Once the barn is done and I have an engine stand, I might start looking for donor engines to do something silly like this…

I’m probably a couple months here and then hopefully back at the house. We should do some tech days there or something like that for the local contingent…

absolutely, just let me know. Jordan and I are sort of passively working on the blower idea. I have it sitting in my garage along with an unholy amount of parts I need to install on all 3 rovers..it's a problem currently lol need to make time to get some of them installed to clear up some space.
