I have a (probably) unpopular opinion about aluminum coolant reservoirs.

In my view, I'd rather see the stress in the cooling system in a plastic reservoir rather than a head gasket. Aluminum reservoirs can mask small problems.

For $40-80 it acts as an early warning sign. Easy to replace, easy to source. Quality of the product may be an issue in some cases. I'd still rather see the stress early.

Thanks Johnzo. So the donor box must have had a gearbox temp gauge installed after market possibly? The original gearbox just has a plug there. I don’t see a connector anywhere near it.

This does make sense. Thanks

Not aftermarket just a different vehicle or year, the later years might have had a sensor. I swapped a 1.4 unit from a defender into my disco and I don't remember which way it was but the 1.2 I pulled from mine was different than the one I put in.

Finally got around to replacing front differential. Here’s how the old one came out. Still need to fill differential fluid and have a transmission filter kit coming from AB. Then test drive again.

Something about 04 differentials that just like to grenade themselves. I feel like it’s always an 04 when it happens. Here was mine…
